Happy New Year! May getting rich be as easy as getting fat!

Today I started the finishing touches on my new speaker board. I hope to be done and dusted by Sunday, but I'm just as happy to interrupt the finishing and reinstall it incomplete if it means having music on my first week back to work.

Changed thermostat as temp wasn't rising above 70 degrees. Thought it had wrong stat in it but turned out it was an 87 degree one. It seemed to work OK out of the car too, but I fitted a new one anyway. Car now run at 87 now so something must have been wrong.

Added an AMG Front Spoiler. And a Rear Boot spoiler. Still need to find time to fit the Side Skirts and Lower rear spoiler/apron

Because I'm concerned about how long my bastard 5-speed is going to last, although it is performing admirably right now, I ordered a Getrag 717.400 as a standby.

Well, it has arrived.

And boy, oh boy is that f*cker heavy... According to the packaging it should be only 7lb heavier than the 717.413 I used for my 5-speed. But I had a really hard time picking that thing up off the floor.

Or maybe I'm just getting too old for this fun and games...

Upgraded to LED & will never go back. Seems halogen are good for under 30 MPH travel, anything more seems kinda dangerous to me. PCH through dark Northern section of Malibu in a slight ocean mist we almost went over the edge with the halogen. Other than that the car needs nothing as usual except did the usual oil & filter change to start the year. AC on the back burner since its way too expensive to fix.

Bought a new garage mate for my 240D last weekend. Haven't done anything to my 240D in a few months. I hate winter.

Took it for an oil change and it rewarded me by letting me down a few minutes later when it refused to start because the battery gave up. Great.

Changed carburettor flange. When I bought the car I took it to a specialist for a check over and this was one of the jobs they said was needed. The old one looked fine but I changed it anyway. Hoped to fix my slightly lumpy idle but made no difference to anything.
Going to do a valve check next but concerned about how to work around the 'hidden' cam shaft in my M102 engine. Never done it before.
