I suddenly "noticed" about 20 years of embedded dirt in this back shelf

I'll bet I've put about six or seven applications of this commercial carpet foam for car carpets

And I learned you really need a nylon brush to work the foam in to the carpet

it seems to get it out but slowly but another hint I picked up on the net when you're wiping it off with a clean rag don't go back-and-forth because you're just pushing more dirt in

One swipe down with a clean Terry towel

I notice it is picking up dirt on the towel but I may start seeing where I can get this whole thing steam cleaned

The carpets on my storage compartment and in the front footwell carpets are in similar disarray; they will go to the detailer for a deep steam clean. I deep cleaned the tonneau cover by hand with leather cleaner and rags similar to your current process; good result but physically draining...

Hallelujah!! Finally got the coolant level and washer fluid level warning lights to turn off. Had to replace both brand new coolant and washer fluid tank sensors with brand newer ones :(. Stuff happens...

Yeah I'm looking up detailers. After doing this a good 5 to 7 times and there is still dirt ...

i'll bet that hasn't been cleaned in 20 years

Vanity mirrors on 1991 R129 were in terrible condition: discolored, with some unidentfiable blob adhesions, and with an overall tacky feeling that discourages a passenger from even attempting to open up the mirror.

I considered buying replacement mirrors at about $125 a throw. But first I tried to salvage. I used the Novus scratch remover to try to loosen the tacky surface and the tiny adhesions. Then I scraped the surface with a single-edge razor blade. The results were not bad - see photos Rectangle Wood Font Hardwood Flooring

.

Ultimately there will come a time when they need replacing, but this restores them to a usable condition for now, and I can put the money into higher priority work on this otherwise enjoyable car...

Took my 1998 and my wife out for our annual fall color tour three days ago. Actually a short 25 miles out and back that took two hour with a stop for breakfast. The trees were changing and the weather here in Chicago was fantastic! Cool and dry. After a wash and wax, it is time to put the car into winter storage in our garage. Every once in a while I will still pull up the cover and just look at it. Such a mechanical and stylistic statement!

After trying to clean my carpet five times using the spray on foam you get it auto stores, I decided to get it professionally steam cleaned

they were telling me they had to go over it three times as the dirt kept coming up

but to look at this interior it looks almost brand new

The car is a 1996 with 226,000 miles on it

where I just took the pictures the lighting wasn't all that good but I hope I have conveyed what a good job they did

It was money well spent

I thought the quote of $200 was a bit high but they really worked hard at getting all the embedded dirt out. And even cleaned my door panels and seatbelts I believe. The car looks almost new and the shadows really didn't do it justice
A full interior carpet clean by my detailer is on my list after repairing some stitching in the top.

Your car is beautiful!

I finally fixed my xenon headlights. Changing the bulbs and following the instructions on this site lead to the plate that holds the bulbs to get pushed out of their sockets for the adjustment/ self leveling. Had droopy cross eyed lights for months.

behind the lenses and inside the lighting units were dusty and made the lights look faded so it pissed me off enough to to take the time to open each one up. Popped the bulb holding plates back into their sockets and cleaned up all the white dust thoroughly .

car was from Florida, potentially coke was being hidden particularly in the drivers side??

Well there’s only 1 way to find out, do a line and let us know 😂.

Nice work on that, was popping off the lenses easy?
Just gotta remove the corner lens assembly, then the trim piece below and let it hang, then 3 bolts holding the headlight in place. 2 on the sides and one on the inner side. Then you gotta carefully pry tabs and pry the lenses off and thats it. Don't remove the rubber trim thats on top

Took a drive through the Delta today even with the top down at 60°. Had to check one of the shock towers cause one of the crappy roads launched me like the Dukes of Hazzard --- everything was OK. Getting a chocolate ice cream now
