Note to admins: This is a popular thread on other car forums, but I didn't see one here (and I did search). If there is one, please direct me to it

Last weekend I sandblasted a skid plate I recently bought. This poor thing had been through hell, with about 6 different coats of paint on it, hammer and grinding marks, etc. I was painting it satin black; the first coat was on and it looked beautiful, so I started putting on a second coat from a fresh rattle-can, but it just would not gloss out. Turns out I bought flat black and not satin black. After some digging through my shelves and not finding any more satin, I said to hell with it and finished it off with black plasti-dip. I'll just tell people I meant to do that.

DMV finally finished processing my YOM application, so I bought an NOS month sticker @ Bug-O-Rama for a more correct-looking black plate setup.

Ah, what the heck.
Had a few beers, went on Benz forum, feeling like sharing, so here is one of the projects in progress.

Putting that new blaster to work I see, Thom! The plate looks great.

I sand blasted an under-bed storage box with attached fire extinguisher box from a 404 truck. It's going on the M105A404 trailer project (an M-105A2 trailer with a 404 radio box on it).

A few days ago I destroyed a sheave (pulley block) tugging on a tree. Photo attached. Moral: make sure your swamper locks the sheave correctly.

This could turn into a very fun thread! BTW, there are a couple of related threads on this forum: What did you get your Mog today?? & Where was your Mog today?.

RokMog is currently getting a brake upgrade in the form of a vacuum brake booster retro fit. A 404 Vacuum Brake Booster I recently acquired and overhauled got mounted over the Memorial Day Weekend (brake lines & vacuum line still needs to be plumbed in):

Nice. Are you going to leave us hanging, or provide some details? :grin

Steel frame filled with concrete??

I was thinking of making one that I can pick up with the rear 3-pt lift.
Yes, it is a steel frame and concrete with lots of steel in it,
including c-channel anchor with welded brackets, used brake rotors and lots of re-bar.
Once assembled I'll have some pictures and dimensions if anybody interested.

Took off the rotted wood off the rear bed on my 416 troop truck, and gave the rest a good pressure washing. Will repaint and put a new floor in this weekend if the weather is good. Also removed the ratty top and will be replacing with a new black top which I just got in from Germany!

It just has standard axles, but it does have hydraulics, front PTO and the bed has been converted to dump out the back!

Got all rust removed and fresh paint, so now I'm ready to install new wood this weekend!

Down here in the South we would call that blue tarp a "FEMA roof". Will be nice to see the truck with the new non-FEMA cover.

Von, I chuckle every time I see your "(I really need to stop buying these things!)"

Looking forward to seeing what you do with it.

Bob,
It will be getting this top very soon! Plus I just decided on the new color! Viper red! Should look great with all the black! Truck only have 931 hours on it and the speedo drive is snapped, but was working a year ago. Speedo only shows under18k km. Truck just needs a little TLC to be real winner!

Looking good.
What kind of wood did you use for it and how did you attach it to the box frame?

The wood is just 5/4 pressure treated decking and its held on by carriage bolts like the 3/4" plywood was.
