My SL500 has water spots on the black lip around the car where the hard top/soft top sits. I have tried vinegar, clay bar, and scratch remover and have had no luck at all. any suggestions?

I'm following up on this question from a few months ago. I have the same issue with these spots on my SL320. Any suggestions?

Thanks

Are they actual water spots? Perhaps the combination of water, dust and from the constant rattling of the lid while driving could have simply etched the molding.

Might need a light sanding or rubbing compound to get rid of scratches. Haven't tried this before, but it might be a thought to try on a very small test area and see the results.
