Washer fluid reservoir issue.

1997 SL600

My washer fluid reservoir was leaking, so I lifted it up just a little and then it started pouring out the bottom. I pulled it further and I see that on the outside side there is a hole where obviously something is supposed to attach to it. The hole is on top of a flange on the low part. The pump is in place and needs to be replaced, but I cannot figure out what is supposed to plug into the other hole. I've looked and looked and cannto find anything.

Ideas?

The tank has place for 2 pumps, one for the headlights and the other for the windshield.

find the other pump, and plug it into the tank.

Also, if the pump fell out of the tank on its own, then chances are the pump neck is broken, or more likely, the rubber seal is hardened is cracked, thus missing...

Good news: The pump is 12 bucks and the seal is 50 cents.

Rubber plug is available for the reservoir if only one pump is installed.
Then it must've lost the plug somehow since there are no headlight washers on my '97. Good news! Now I just have to replace the pump.

dont throw away the bad pump until you get the gromet, as you might end up using the bad pump as a plug, since many suppliers only carry the 1239973681 grommet with a hole in the middle.

if thats the case, just get that gasket, and use the dead pump to seal one hole, and install a new grommet and pump in the other hole to operate your windshild washers...
