I just found my Father a 1995 S320 w/ 65xxx miles from original owner for $10k. It had the 45000 mile service perfofmed at 53k. The washer pump is not working. I will check fuse. Anyone replaced this before and how much $ for repair. Dealer quotes me $170 labor/materials. Also, any other reccomandations on preventative maintenance? Thanks in advance...Brian (from w-208 forum)[:)]

Well, the tank is behind the front bumper, some people have taken out the headlight and gotten to it. The MB CD says remove the bumper, it should only be held on by four screws, two in the grille and two in the panels on the bumper. My low fluid light no longer functions and I have been pondering this job. The book says the bumper slides off the guides on the ends. Maybe you can get to it with the smaller engine not the 500!

Thanks Peter! The fuse was not blown so looks like it will need a r&r. You're probably correct on removing the right headlight as i clearly see pump underneith. What can i say about my dad not wanting a V8? I think he was a woman in another life!![:D]
p.s... Any other suggestions on the w140 are appreciated per above info...thx, Brian

The reservoir sits below the passenger headlamp.

You can access the top of the reservoir and the sender for the fluid level from the top. The pumps are accessible only from the bottom, below the bumper. You may not have to remove the bumper. Look under your car just in front of the front right fender well. I had my bumper, headlights, and washer fluid reservoir off a few months ago, and I can't remember whether you can reach the pumps or not. There is a splash guard panel under the front end of the engine that may block access.

Before buying a new pump, make sure that the pump is the actual problem. They aren't that much, $30-40. Could be a clogged or disconnected fluid line, bad electrical connection, not enough fluid in the reservoir, whatever.

No need to take the bumper off. You need to take off the big black plastic cover at the bottom below the bumper, held by 10 hex head screws. The reservoir and pumps are there - one for windshield, the other for the headlights.

Thank you Brett and Myarmar for your time and detail! I wish my CLK w208 forum would be this professional.
(currently some of the crazies are openly discussing steroids and other hard drugs???) I say its not a lincoln and/or cadillac forum! Happy new year to all!
