I'm working on restoring some of the interior on a W211 I picked up recently, but I need a walnut insert for the shifter knob. I've bought a new leather boot, as the original one is totally shot. But what appears is that someone replaced the entire shifter lever with a non-matching one in the past. (Probably a Fleabay purchase.) So the insert in the shifter is grey wood (with grey leather) and not the matching walnut that is in the interior wood in this car. The grey looks strange with the beige IMO.

I can install the grey one that is in it when I replace the leather wit the new beige boot, but my OCD is liable to make my head explode. I've scoured Fleabay and the internet for an insert, but no luck as of yet.

Does anyone know where I can find one of these inserts in Walnut other than a junk yard search?

That gray wood is surely ugly. Never seen it in a W211 before. While you are at it, why don't you upgrade to the facelift shifter nob (https://www.ebay.com/itm/W211-W219-Mercedes-Transmission-Gear-Shift-Knob-Floor-Shifter-Selector-Lever-OEM/113688019765?epid=1143510796&_trkparms=ispr=1&hash=item1a78558335:g:bHwAAOSwuVpcjOlk&enc=AQAEAAACQBPxNw+Vj6nta7CKEs3N0qUmIi/4cnyLcO8xMuyKyTVTK0Ng/YOhxGyfznDStLejyBpfMdgMR4ec4fn0AkmRbXgfl6YO+D7PuW3vl8y9nKFMLueLbGAjcnxaOqXoPRzHCmGXX3CmeXBQoOw6CfcjDm+QyfIIYnJd6I2Zq0ZfXnKmjN2+5wnKOUDl7LfwQq1ZjsKuHqevW3aZjGceSXSt0uEf3UW4roAwB9JAyqSyWwDlJbYkiTEFHOJk4oXERol7/Tnc3JFms4s+XKZH3A5PQFjDDNKmZCW0AzGFu5pz2CStlLkn4dEgL2+lhMTm9DnkOGML5gZmlvTSNHYNYAPNzHruD2cVpq6KE/97Judp5zxQBsqpe//ADlEjpudUsbdqmeGPwH8eBhyTPFwFvFSIr3rLCwzD6Cvjf1mx/8hTtKHCh6h+xJjjJuG4IgtkGjgCOiHVuDc352FrArtUgEMCQ3l1pxxtPITPCc0pXbOLkU5iZOODXw28G5kFvmffDcmEfgY8cL173HfHVvBd1i2UJH2gYoIkoKM+ZxFQHg/qCCKFJyRPGBPHDgxOnHqU9VN4XHGQ3Szmf6i0sJxlMkC918RY6A5UPg1ScbUo0gjRq9xFZTeIukD2FvU6BZ1H2kB+P90yzfN/TxRYT1n37pYiqhCv8M8WMUqXXAj2WKh6EkVlVVlyrGriiy7vToWI0cgBsrVeeYZOC28AcMOeYdb2xUTFPgG4SgCCOwvkY6DD8Rsa11wNUeoKIL0tkUF76C5AHQ==&checksum=113688019765cf56966343284908832df334e5c75c88&enc=AQAEAAACQBPxNw+Vj6nta7CKEs3N0qUmIi/4cnyLcO8xMuyKyTVTK0Ng/YOhxGyfznDStLejyBpfMdgMR4ec4fn0AkmRbXgfl6YO+D7PuW3vl8y9nKFMLueLbGAjcnxaOqXoPRzHCmGXX3CmeXBQoOw6CfcjDm+QyfIIYnJd6I2Zq0ZfXnKmjN2+5wnKOUDl7LfwQq1ZjsKuHqevW3aZjGceSXSt0uEf3UW4roAwB9JAyqSyWwDlJbYkiTEFHOJk4oXERol7/Tnc3JFms4s+XKZH3A5PQFjDDNKmZCW0AzGFu5pz2CStlLkn4dEgL2+lhMTm9DnkOGML5gZmlvTSNHYNYAPNzHruD2cVpq6KE/97Judp5zxQBsqpe//ADlEjpudUsbdqmeGPwH8eBhyTPFwFvFSIr3rLCwzD6Cvjf1mx/8hTtKHCh6h+xJjjJuG4IgtkGjgCOiHVuDc352FrArtUgEMCQ3l1pxxtPITPCc0pXbOLkU5iZOODXw28G5kFvmffDcmEfgY8cL173HfHVvBd1i2UJH2gYoIkoKM+ZxFQHg/qCCKFJyRPGBPHDgxOnHqU9VN4XHGQ3Szmf6i0sJxlMkC918RY6A5UPg1ScbUo0gjRq9xFZTeIukD2FvU6BZ1H2kB+P90yzfN/TxRYT1n37pYiqhCv8M8WMUqXXAj2WKh6EkVlVVlyrGriiy7vToWI0cgBsrVeeYZOC28AcMOeYdb2xUTFPgG4SgCCOwvkY6DD8Rsa11wNUeoKIL0tkUF76C5AHQ==&checksum=113688019765cf56966343284908832df334e5c75c88)

Or perhaps go with an aftermarket one (https://www.ebay.com/itm/MERCEDES-E-CLASS-W211-2002-2005-NEW-SHIFT-KNOB-SHIFT-BOOT-BEIGE-LEATHER/282904415551?hash=item41de6acd3f:g:hmkAAOSwtJFavO7Q)

Anyway, here is the whole list I found on eBay:

@ezzo

You know, I thought about the facelift shifter knob. I could do that, as those seem more common. I would just need to return the new boot and get the appropriate boot for the facelift knob. The nice thing about the facelift style is you don't have to worry about damaging the boot leather from touching it. I know that people who use lotion on their hands ruined the original leather knobs fairly quickly. The leather on my '06 CDI is still pretty good, but I don't use lotion.

In order to do this easily, there would have to be no difference in the shifter lever shaft pre and post facelift. But if there is, I would have to replace the shifter assembly as well. I'll have to ask the guys in parts at MB about that, unless someone here knows.
