Hi guys and gals,

I have read that it might be possible to fit a double DIN stereo to my vito mk1. I only have a single DIN size port in the dash facia so not sure how to acheive this. I have seen one photo where someone has removed the heating controls and shaped the facia to fit a double DIN but I dont understand how they would control the fan after.

Has anyone got any experience/knowledge on how to achieve this?

Many thanks

Stev

I'm glad you posted this mate..made me get off my ass today and get it done...With the new smaller unit i was able to keep the top cool vents...cut the vent unit in half...i blocked off the hot vent just above the heater....I'll trim out the facia for switches and wire it tomorrow..BTW..helps if you have an extra facia panel to mess with....

Oh I see

Pleasure mate! hahah. Nice new toy. What you buy? Let me know how good it is. Hmmm...ok thanks food for thought. TBH I'm not convinced yet on cutting things about to much. I'll take your example and think about the way I can do it on mine. I really appreciate the advice.

Done....touchscreen works well, better than i expected..Pulled out a heater vent (unused)from the back of the Chevy...fits perfectly into the radio slot...plus i can plumb it in to the heater box, so i'll have the vents working too...:smile

Thought I'd have a bash at an iPad / Tablet install as oppose to the double DIN.
Started off with a cut out of head unit with Heater controls, then flipping upside down to make the controls sit where the head unit used to. Then glued, filled, sanded and primed. Next I cut out the lower Hot heater vents which I'll block off so just the two outer dash vents along with the floor vents supply heat.
Used an old Tablet hardcase bezel to fit into console to house the Tablet screen. repeated the glue. fill and sanding again.

Will have a go at installing and rigging up power to ignition supply power with audio to either car audio or amp this weekend. :)

do any of you have the wiring diagrams for the stereo system (2003 112cdi) ? looks like a previous owner of my newish van rewired it wrong, there's pins in the connector block on one side but the female connectors on the other side are not all in the same slots?! also there's 5 pins on one side and only 4 on the other side... suffice to say it doesn't work at the minute.

Love it!! May try that on my V5 model haha

How did you re-plum the venting to Radio slot? Is the heat going straight and only there or do you have leaks?
