Hi Everyone,

Sorry if this has been asked already, but does anyone know the part number of the bolts that attach (T30) from the switch block to the steering wheel?

I was being an idiot and unscrewed them using a T27 and ended up damaging the threads.

I have EPC open but I see no actual code for the bolt/screws themselves (only for the centre bolt), and when I called the dealership they said it was a 'non-serviceable part' lol.

I'm heading to my local big brand parts store tomorrow, but I wanted to find the actual bolt/screw code to check thread pitch and a few other pieces of info.

Also, if you've found a comparable part, I'd be super appreciative for any links - flying blind here and the last thing I want to do is fit incorrect parts to anything near the airbag.

Cheers,
Sam

Hey Devours,
Sorry mate, will do that now (within next 10m - for server sync purposes)!
Just heading to bed so will respond to the thread in the morning, but thanks in advance for your help with this!

I think you helped me out a year or so ago with another issue - think I owe you a few digital beers to say the least lol

Unfortunately, if you want the OEM screws, you'll have to get the whole item 40 - its components are not carried as a spare part, and it might be that the entire assembly (40 + 60) is now only supplied as a single part - my EPC/WIS is 2013, so slightly out of date ha-ha.

You could always match the screws with generic types, or better still get these from breakers - must be plenty W245s available and if the airbag was deployed, the rest of the steering wheel won't attract many takers, so a good source of parts :)

Haha so the dealer wasn't lying!

Am I crazy in thinking that the policy is slightly ridiculous? I'm all for safety, but the phrase 'planned obsolescence' comes to mind.

Fantastic idea, I'll ring around tomorrow and see if I can get any takers (for the fun if it I asked a bloke on Facebook who wanted $180AUD for a steering wheel with a blown airbag - I almost spit my coffee out haha).

Thanks for the confirmation David, much appreciated 🤠

No worries and yes, I agree - a bit overcautious I'd say: I had my airbag, etc off on my old A200 (basically the same as W245) half a dozen times and the world is still going :ROFLMAO:
