Hi everyone,

Need a little help identifying a part. My 2007 S550 has a coolant leak. I tracked it down using dye, but I don't know what part this is. The pictures are taken standing on the driver's side near the firewall. Can anyone tell me what part I need to order?

Thanks!

My guess is that is the water hose between the engine and heater recirculating pump. Here's some photos that may help;

The back of a new M273 engine, at roughly 11 o'clock from the center of the flywheel there is a water hose connection to the block;

Looking through the EPC, the hose that looks to be in the correct location is the: 221 830 20 96 Feed hose between engine and recirculating pump. Here's a photo I snagged from a google search of that p/n.

The firewall section in the middle can be easily removed. The heater control valve is back there and it's an all plastic part which you want to replace before it breaks apart.

Yep, that looks like the part. Thanks DLAFever & EasyPhil! I replaced the heater control valve about 8 months ago, so it should be solid. But you're right, that thing just crumbled when I was replacing it.

DLAFever,
Any chance you could also find the part number of the fitting on the back of the engine that the hose slides into? It's plastic, so I might as well replace it too while I'm at it if it's not that big of a job. I've looked everywhere I can think of to find the name & number of that part, but can't. Thanks!

Yes! So there are two possible parts, see below;

Up to engine # 30196899, P/N 272 200 00 31 (2722000031)
From engine # 30196900, P/N 272 200 00 54 (2722000054)

If you have the EPC, it can be found under Engine> Cooling>Water Pump:
#150 is the early and #153 is the late version.

2606527

Also they both take the same sealing ring, #160 in the drawing, 013 997 24 45 (0139972445)
** it will likely come with one if you buy a new valve

Perfect. Thank you. Mine is the older one, so it's part#,,,031, I do have EPC but just couldn't find it. I could use training on how to use that thing.

I'll order the parts and do a DIY write up when done. Thank you for your help!
