Hi guys,

I’m sorry to ask this question If it’s been asked many times. I’m in the market for a w212 2010 or 11. I’ve noticed that the day time running lamps look different on some 10 or 11 models.

mess there a slight update around then. If so what else is different between the hockey shaped models and the straight led chrome running lamp models. It’s the E250 CDI I’m specifically looking at.
Have googled this bad found no other information

Any information is helpful

Peter

What I'm really asking wether there was a small update with this model evident by these new style DRL, where other aspects about the car were also different? is it worth getting a model with the newer style or is it just a slight visual change to the front and nowhere else that anyone is aware of?

Hey mersum1es, Maybe I wasn’t clear But that seems like a lot of info for a basic question.

Well it looks like you already got a car, but the lights were also different if you had the bixenons or if you just had the regular halogens. Looks like the car you got had the bixenons as they have the headlamp washers. You could have gone up one more year for the 2012+ and gotten the newer 302hp engine instead of the 268hp in the 2010-2011 engine.

Yes they are, so was the option only available on the higher range/packs after 09? I've noticed other 2010 and 2011 cars with the hockey shape DRL. Was trying to work out the difference.

Anyway I'm really happy with mine, its feels like its two years old and has low k's. Perfect condition. Leather is immaculate everything works like it's hardly touched. And the price was incredible I have to say. Guess I was lucky

I believe I may have 215 kW; 288 hp with my Aus spec car, according to my engine number, it's direct injection and therefore higher output.

You still have the same M272 engine so I guess they just tuned it differently in your country. It was 268hp in the US and 302hp for the direct injection engine which was the M276 engine. Maybe emissions requirements weren't so high or they just measured it differently. I thought in the US the difference was the bixenons and the ones without that option got the two fog lights. But the cars get customized in each country so it may have been different in your country. In the US, the cars also suffered from faded wood trim, if you open the door and look at the trim hidden by the door, if it's darker, then you also have the faded wood trim. But again, maybe you got lucky in your country or maybe it was stored in a garage all the time so the sun didn't fade it.

Makes sense with the lights, I've seen a few options around and couldn't initially work out what they denoted with spec or updates.
Luckily my dark ash wood trim is not faded at all. I suspect its always been garaged. It has a few fine swirls but that's it. I'm still reading conflicting info on the engine and direct injection. Possibly we had euro spec and they had it earlier. Wikipedia mentions it was availably pre M276 as does other articles e.g "The M272 initially had conventional, manifold fuel injection. From 2005, the engine was available with direct fuel injection for the C219 CLS 350 CGI, while the W212 and S212 E-Class followed in 2007." Is there a visual difference to the engine under the hood that would indicate the upgrade?
Your right though so many markets and variants. I saw a video of a seat removal in Thailand? and it seemed like a E350 had cloth seats but other premium options like dual front 3 x memory located on the door.
