Here are the official pics from the W212 E63 AMG. Enjoy!

Article from CAR Magazine:

So this Mercedes E63 AMG has the 6.2-litre V8, right?

Right, with 518bhp and 465lb ft, enough to match up with the XFR's 503bhp and 461lb ft. The engine is in the same state of tune that you’ll find in the SL63 AMG, and the drop-top also donates its seven-speed automatic which features a wet clutch rather than the tradtional torque convertor so the gearbox is more efficient and more responsive.

The seven-speed ‘box can also blip the throttle on downshifts, swap the cogs in 100 milliseconds, and it has a launch control function. It’s enough for the E63 to each 62mph in 4.5 seconds, but as ever it hits a 155mph limiter if you keep your foot planted.
But Merc is more proud of the improved fuel consumption figure, claiming the E63 is now nearly 12% more economical thanks to an on-demand fuel system and energy recupertion under braking. Pity the extra 12% still only equates to 22.4mpg, but that is better than every other 500bhp super-saloon.
The E63 also features a new 56mm wider front axle with steel spring struts, the back has an AMG-tweaked air-suspended rear and there’s also AMG’s Ride Control sports suspension system with electronically controlled dampers with Comfort, Sport and Sport Plus modes.

Anything else?

Of course. There’s a more direct steering set-up, a three-stage ESP system, 18-inch wheels, a bulging bodykit, LED daytime headlights and sports seats covered in Nappa leather.
And if you want more then you can spec the Performance Package that comes with 19-inch wheels, stiffer suspension, a proper locking rear differential and a little lip spoiler on the boot.

Nice. I see it has the console shifter. Too bad Mercedes put the shifter on the column for the other W212 models. It just doesn't feel like a sport sedan without the shifter on the console.

But you would not feel the shifter but the steering wheel gear control buttons anyway (those are standard on all 7G-Tronic models, I believe all US cars have 7G-Tronic)? I interpret you are after the looks? Shouldn't it then have a dummy manual gear stick? :)

Looks alright. I bet the mid-production "face lift" (genII w212) will look a lot better.

Gee, I don't think the paddle shifters can put the car into park, drive, or reverse.:)

Apparenty Mercedes agrees with me about where the shifter goes on a performance vehicle since they chose to put it on the console for the E63. Too bad they don't consider the other models to be performance oriented. I know they moved the shifter to the column to make room for the COMAND control knob, but somehow they managed to put both the shift and COMAND on the console for the E63.

i saw the e63 amg on display at the new york auto show. it is beautiful in person! i was able to sit in the 2010 e350 and e550 and i can tell you that they have a sort of similar interior to that of the S-class. it's so much more elegant than the current e-class, it made my eyes water :p

btw, the c-class has the comand dial and a shifter in the console. so does the glk!

I can't wait to sit in this car myself. I think that me liking its exterior design is a lost cause as I'm just too upset and turned off by it, but interior wise I'm still on the fence, even considering I've never liked boxy designs. What's weird is through all the obsessive research and reviews I've read about the car, I've heard quite a few people say the opposite of what you did in regards to the interior, as it has lost some elegance-like refinement and is a bit colder and harder feeling, then I've heard quite a few say what you did.

....Eagerly awaiting to sit in the thing. I do know that if it shares the materials from the C Class, it will be a major downgrade IMO.
