Hi there!

So, I found out that apparently, the E55 / E63 Wagon rear shocks are different than the sedan shocks and that the correct part numbers for both type cars are as follows for code 489:

Sedan
Rear Left: A2113262700 -> Replaced by A2113266800
Rear Right: A2113262700 -> Replaced by A2113266800

Wagon
Rear Left: A2113261300 -> Replaced by A2113266900
Rear Right: A2113261400 -> Replaced by A2113267000

I'm having real trouble finding these parts second hand or new actually other than straight from MB which charges... well you know how much :D

Does anyone experienced with this subject know the answer to some of the following questions:
  • What is the difference, if there even is a difference between let's say the part for a E500(/E550?) Wagon and a E55 AMG Wagon with the same option 489? Via 7zap I found for a E500 Wagon with code 489: A2113261100 (left) and A2113261200 (right). So, is there something else I'm missing or is it the same part but labeled non-AMG that sells for less but does the same? Or is the AMG part actually better performance wise or does the car sit different, though I think mostly the air-spring decides that?
  • Why are they a different part(number) per side for the wagon and not for the sedan? I'm just a bit curious about this.
  • It seems to me that Arnott only made the E55 AMG sedan part for A2113266800?

I actually just wrote an email to Arnott directly this evening asking if their A2725 rear air springs also fit the E55 wagon, as their website doesn’t differentiate and includes “AMG” though only lists W211 (not S211).

I’ve got an ‘06 E55 wagon, which after sitting about a week and a half completely collapsed in the rear on both sides. Upon opening the driver door, the compressor kicked in and raised both sides evenly. I’m a little curious at whether my issue is air springs if both sides deflated at the same time… hard to think both failed at once, versus possibly a leak in supply line that supplies them both..?

This car is new to me as of about4 months ago. Prior to it, I’ve been a W124 and W140 owner/DIY mechanic the last 15 years or so.

This thread was actually about the rear SHOCK and not the air spring but you are in luck as I have actually replaced the rear airsprings to Arnott 2725's 3 weeks ago myself. They do fit perfectly and work great. Both my original rear air springs were also leaking so it is certainly possible, I think from researching it I understood that mostly it's leaking at the hose going to the reservoir on the original ones. The valve block can also happen but not often I think.

For my E55 Wagon these are the original part numbers:
Rear left airbag: A 211 320 13 25
Rear right airbag: A 211 320 12 25
If I search for those numbers in the car parts stores in Europe I use they all go to: A2725

Hope that helps :)

Just got a quote back from my MB dealer parts department: 600 euro excluding tax for the rear left SHOCK:*)
I still wonder what the difference is with the E500/E550 Wagon shock. I have a feeling they can be fitted fine but maybe the ride height / stiffness is a bit different?

Update: I've just mailed the Dutch Arnott office to see if they can supply a shock for those numbers I mentioned (A2113266900, A2113267000) and if not if their E500 Wagon shock replacement will fit and what the difference would be.

Not that I ever doubted you, but just heard back from Arnott as well who confirmed after reviewing my VIN that A2725 are compatible with the wagon. Thanks again
No problem at all and thanks for confirming. At the same time I got also a mail back from the Dutch customer support saying these are the only compatible parts for a E55 Wagon:
P-2192 compressor (Compressor)
A-2725 balgen achterzijde (Air spring)
AS-2300/AS-2301 veerpoten voorzijde (front airstruts)
