Im having some trouble with my benz. It drains the main battery and when Im driving there comes this red screen that says "Battery/Alternator Visit Workshop".

I have changed both batteries and the alternator. And when I read trouble codes with my star there was trouble code 2247-002 "Check component G2 (generator). Bidirectional bus driver interface Short circuit to ground or open circuit" in CDI3_UP control unit and it is current and stored.

Also there were in the BCM control unit trouble codes 9055 "The terminal 61 signal on the CAN bus is missing or is faulty. If there is no specific customer complaint, ignore fault code 9055" and it was stored. There was something about auxiliary battery and auxiliary battery relay but Im guessing they are because I ran out of battery while driving, and lost brakes also.

Car is 211.004 2004 200CDI. Vin is WDB2110041A611786

Thank you in advance if you can help me!

When I had that code it was the AGW (audio gateway)
MB replaced it with their one OEM rebuilt part which was 30% of the new part cost.
The dealer was very good about. I thought it was the BCM, but did not have the tools
to test it at the time. The dealer said the BCM was fine and even a failed one does not
prevent battery charging.

I dont have the alternator number but I was told that it is the right alternator for my car. It is 200 amps and has a free pulley, exactly like my old one.

I took my alternator out and put it to bench and it seemed to work. I also did alternator test with my star and didnt charge at all.

I took photos of fault codes that i have and also a photo of the alternator test.

Ill test draws tomorrow and check if it has any amps in the B+ wire.

Anyone know where the fuses are for the alternator and how can I test the terminal 61?

I figured it out! The wire that goes from alternators B+ terminal to starter has a fuse in it that is exposed to the elements, mine was corroded and broke in to few pieces.

So I fix that fuse and it started to work again. I didnt find that fuse in any diagrams, so if someone is having similiar problems its worth checking out.

My wiring diagram (from WIS) indicates a fuse (F56), depending on the engine but valid for this car in question.

Worth checking in any case.

Resurrecting this old thread.

Does anyone know where this fuse is located?! i thought all fuses were located at a fuse box in these cars, why would his have been exposed to the elements?

i got underneath the intake with an endoscope and looked for any fuses in line by the starter and by the alternator, and didn't see anything. F56 on my 2005 E320 CDI as mentioned is 1 40A fuse for the wiper motor, it has nothing to do with the charging system.

Hi, I'm having a very similar issue here. Is this anything you had experienced? Any piece of advise would be much appreciated.
