My 1990 300E currently has some aftermarket head unit installed with CD player. I appreciate the CD player but don't like the appearance of aftermarket stereos. I want a genuine MB stereo with an integrated CD player but none of the W124s ever came with such a thing. I was wondering if it is possible to install a W210 stereo perhaps? If not I guess I will just find a good quality original Becker and install that assuming the installation of the aftermarket stereo won't make reinstallation of the original unit a headache.

What W210 radio has CD player?
I am not even going into fact that CD is outdated technology as I still have 8-track in my motorhome and whole box of tapes for it

MB standard Audio 10 had single CD player with provision to plug in CD stacker.

Although why you would want one? The audio quality is so so.

Actually there was a stereo with a integrated cd player available from MB, the Becker Mexico Compact Disc 860. But it is very rare since it was not a cheap option.

It can be and I have done it. Something a little different in an audio - That other Forum

MB radios of this era were more or less ISO connection compliant, so many are plug and play for the W124 series cars. I have found three options: D2B head unit with OEM CD changer, D2B head unit with Dension D2b iPod adapter (my choice), or the Euro Audio 10 units. It will be easier to find a new car than find the Becker Mexico CD unit.

Audio quality in the W124 is primarily a function of speaker quality. The OEM speakers were speakers in name only and certainly not transducers of anything more than AM radio quality. An OEM head unit with good speakers can be quite good.

Contact Becker of North America and upgrade into a newer unit that still has the right look.
