Hi All,

I am doing a complete new system in my W210 E55. I have MB Quart front speakers, alpine rear speakers, 2 alpine type R subs, alpine 9855 head unit, and two good amps.

3 Questions:

1) will 6.5 in speakers fit in rear doors????
2) How will two Type R 12 in alpine subs sound in the trunk?
3) how can i make it so i loose minimal trunk space?

THANKS SO MUCH IN ADVANCE!!

-tq

I just removed the rear door inside panel in attempt to install 5.25 speakers only to find 4" OEM speakers mounted in a plastic adapter that seals them tightly between the door frame and the inside panel. I had seen a post previously about a adapter that allows 5.25 to be mounted in the rear doors. I will post more info if I find it later. Botton line stick with 4" speakers for direct replacement of the OEM crap.

wow 4in! thats not good. Maybe i'll mount the speakers in the rear deck then where the stock bose subs are. I am doing a whole new system with MB Quart front speakers, JL audio 12 in sub, JL audio amps, etc etc. I wanted to place the speakers in the door for a more full sound but I dont want 4in speakers in the rear...

thanks though! most appreciated and def keep us posted on the 5.25 adapter....

The adapters are only available in the UK:
www.nexxia.co.uk Part - SAK-2006
Speaker adaptors allow you to replace your cars original speakers with you own choice of speakers. Kits are sold as pairs and include any fitting screws needed. Price £12.99, [email protected]
With shipping they come 17.05 pounds or $32.66. I will place my order on Monday.

Stick with the 4" mb quarts in the back doors they will sound great, I did. For best sub sound remove the rear deck speakers, use them as sound ports, the gas tank blocks the sound from entering the cabin. As for space, this is a never ending battle for me. I currently have to 10" in a down firing jeep sub box, but I have it mounted so the subs are facing the rear deck, yup I put the box in upside down, I can now fit two sets of golf clubs in the trunk. My next step is to try a truck box, but have been told the sound quality will suffer greatly. As soon as I have my car detailed I will post pics of my ride, I have completely redone the sound system, tires and thinking about tinting the windows. If you need any further advise or sugestions hit me up!

if you want a deep bass sound go with the two 12" subs; to be honest with you two 10" subs will hit cleaner. To save space i would go with a vampass box.
