W210 E320CDI Engine cracking noise
I have an ongoing, irritating, problem with my car which is: when driving on a light throttle at low speed I hear an intermittent rapid sharp cracking noise from the engine. If it were petrol you would say it was knocking or pinking. My local agent investigated and said it was normal for some of these engines so I wrote to the head honchos of DB in the UK and to Stuttgart and was given the same brush-off.
I am not going to let it rest yet and am going to give the car to an independent common-rail diesel specialist who thinks the problem is mis-matching of the injectors. Has anyone out there managed to resolve the problem?
