When my car was down for repairs I had the time to fix an oil leak at the valve cover. The source was from the larger Cam Plug on the driver's side. Discovered the plugs pop in and out and Mercedes Benz has updated the Plugs with an improved seal. Here are some images of the newer plugs. The newer plug is on the right. They were very reasonably priced. Good idea to replace all of them. I went ahead and loosened the torxs on the valve covers without breaking the cover seal. This probably is not necessary because they could still pop in. It was a pain taking the rear left bracket covering the left rear torx!

Yep, this is a common problem. There is no need to loosen the cover bolts as the hole the cam plug is inserted into is not "trapped" under the cover - it's wholly contained in the head. All you need to do is use a plastic blade to pull the old one out, and then pop the new one in.
