I have a failed oil sensor in my CLK 320 and would like to know is there a way to bypass the sensor instead of replacing it? If not does anyone know the sensors specs? If I had that I could figure it out. Thanks.
i wasn't able to find any info on the oil sensor before i dropped the pan and replaced the $75(ebay) sensor. it took a couple hours including changing the oil and air filters.
there are 3 mail pins on the sensor. if i can ship the old sensor out to someone to figure out how to bypass/short to get rid of the warning lmk.
sfclk, were you able to drop the pan and replace the oil sensor without messing with the engine mounts, etc.? I heard it was a tough job to replace... Thanks, ~Tim
I completed the repair by removing the front swaybar bolts. The bolts came off no problem, removed the oil pan and replaced the sending unit. One word of caution for anyone attempting this, use the Mercedes gasket sealer!! I used a generic from Auto Zone and it leaked. Cleaned that mess off and used the Mercedes sealant with no issues to date. No errors from the sending unit life it good.
