This is just a reference point for others since I could not readily find info on this sub forum for this issue....

Had to tackle this job on my GFs w204 yesterday.

Since MB deleted the inner driveshaft hub bolts you must therefore remove the hub. What a PITA.

Slotted the old ring with a dremel nearly all the way through then cracked it with a cold chisel to remove remains. Clean shaft with wire brush in a drill, smear of locktite and wooden drift to install new ring.

Thankfully the rings are available new from MB and inexpensive at about £13 which sure beats having to buy the whole driveshaft! I imagine the other side is in the same state but is still working.

My codes were both rear axle speeds bot matching and right rear wheel speed sensor. Installed a new rear wheel speed sensor first and the issue was visible in live data which led me to the reluctor ring itself and seeing the state of it no wonder!!

This is going to be a VERY common failure point for w204 ans w211 owners etc.

This car has just under 100k miles

The condition is likely environment based too! If you live in a cold damp climate then those rings will have split and ballooned up.
