I prefer the older w202, and would like to import a wagon version. What is the US policy regarding this? Is it economically feasible? A manual transmission would be ideal; does anyone know if the c280 touring was offered anywhere with it? Thanks

...there is a new (last 1 1/2 years) loophole for importing cars from other countries for 'show' purposes. There are mileage restrictions (about 2,500/year, I think), and restrictions on models. The W202 wagon should qualify, however...it is stipulated that the same car cannot be available here, and the model has to be discontinued (not current). And, if you sell the vehicle, the new buyer must follow the same restrictions.

The good thing is that there is far less red tape involved, and no federalization is required. I'd research the DOT website for more info.
