I took some pictures of removing the factory radio, without the mercedes tools. (Yes I know those save a lot of time).

P.S. It is not illustrated; but the lower console completely comes out after unscrewing 6 screws
2 below the ashtray
2 below the shifter
2 inside the larger compartment, at the bottom end

Guess Ill give this a try again! I have 2 old headunits that would be alot better than the stock one. And Ill most likely rip out all the speaker wire all the speakers, the stock amp and all and redo it with some better quality stuff. I tried the knife thing on mine, couldnt for the life of me get it out. And the nearest mercedes dealer from me is about 30 miles. Quite a drive for a set of tools :/

I think Ill end up taking out my massive 15 inch sub and just put my 5 channel amp in there and just run door speakers and such with no sub. Good deck speakers usually have decent bass.
