I was replacing a burnt out bulb behind the hvac controls last night and I came across this odd thing. It has a tiny white and red led and a clip as if it were to slide onto something similar to how a pen clips onto a pocket.

Any idea?

A part search on Google identifies it as a fibre optical cable for the sound system. Only the C230 Kompressor of the W202 series seems to have had it.
