W202 and CLK W208 chassis similarities

I'm planning a M113 swap on my M112 C240 W202. I know it's been done many times now, usually with parts sourced from C43 AMG cars.

However, according to some sources, the W208 CLK is based on the W202 platform (despite having a different wheelbase).

So, my question is, can I buy a CLK 430 donor car and transfer everything on the W202? How similar are the platforms of these two?

Please no "just buy a C43" answers.

Thank you in advance.

Welcome, W202_M113,

You did not specify the years of the donor cars.
That may play an important role.
Also, make sure to get everything such as ecu, transmission, rear diff, related parts on the V8.

What information have you collected so far for this plan?

Welcome, W202_M113,

Hello and thank you very much.

The W202 is an 1998 C240 (with V6 M112) and the powertrain donor is a W208 CLK 430 of the year 2000.

According to Wikipedia and other sources, this generation of the CLK is based on the W202.

I know most people who did this swap took parts (mounts, front subframe, etc) from C43 AMG cars.

However, since those are getting rarer and rarer to find, I was wondering if the CLK 430 subframe and the other parts would bolt on the W202 chassis (since they are supposedly based on the same platform).

I definitely plan on using all the V8 related parts.

If use your subframe as a reference, it shows part # A 202 350 92 08
Use your vin# to confirm this.

That (subframe) part also is used on the a few other models:

Please add your year of your vehicle into your user cp info.

I only posted the rear subframe info. Didnt look for the front.
The first link I provided. Goto the main page website and put in your vin#.
Then search accordingly. Play around with it, you'll get the jist of things. :)
Any Qs, just ask.

I have as many listed W208 suspension/steering/chassis parts fitted to my W202 as I have parts fitted that were listed for the W202.
I can only conclude the chassis of both models are almost identical.
And yes, the W208 is based on the W202.

Perfect. After some homework I’ve come to conclude that you need engine/trans/driveshaft/tcu /ecu/engine harness/diff/mounts anything else missing that someone could add onto? I’m now sourcing parts to get the swap ready.

Yep, you'll need to sort out the built in immobilizer for the ECU. Probably best to get the V8 ecu immobilizer deleted, search online for this service, there's several people offering the service. I don't know what else you'll require when it comes to the electronics, hopefully nothing?

I'm 99% sure that except for the interior and body panels, the 202 and 208 are identical 1998+

Same suspension, steering, subframes, everything is interchangeable. I once bought a clk430 drive shaft to replace the expensive C43 drive shaft in my other C43.

If you can make the swap work then you should already have the car you need. You will need the entire ECU and EIS from the w208, since it's coded by vin

Interestingly enough, I found that the W208 dashboard fits the W202 interior as well. I've found a video of a C55 Swapped W202 on youtube & the author in the comments section claims it was a direct bolt on from W208 to W202 as well. Although you do have to use google translate since it seems to be in Russian.
