Hi Guys

Ok, I have a W169 A150 & W245 B180, (could'nt decide) The rear wiper on the B180 won't work I took the rear trim cover off and can hear the part clicking. just no movement, so I bought a new part from the Dealers, unplugged the motor and plugged in the new motor, same thing is happening still no movement just the clicks. I thought it was the parts and called the dealer, they said as the part had been plugged in although not fitted in place they could not take the part back.

Anyway I looked at the motor on the A150 and noticed that the plug has 4 cables to the connector, where as the B180 only has 3, hopefully the photo's will show this below

Below A150

3 - Black & Yellow
4 - MISSING

I have pulled the wiring harness out a little thinking it might be inside, but cannot find this, it looks to me as it was missing when it came out of the factory, but this is an 06 model with Full Merc History.

The part I bought I then plugged it into the A150, and it works fine. Any advice would be helpfull or any INDY MERC SPECIALIST on here could fix. Dealer wants to charge £120 hour just to look.

PLEASE HELP!!!!!!!!!

I will try and check mine for you, did the wiper arm work at all before? If the 4 pin wire was missing from the factory and if it is required should never have been working at all.

Thanks for the reply Anthony

I bought it in May during summer, never really used it but it's not worked since I've had the car, I can hear the motor click pause pause click pause pause click but no movement from the wiper end.

Does the photo link work?

I'm the second owner, I think it was a company car before as it's done 90K with full mercedes service history from the same dealer, I was stumped when I noticed, doesn't make sense, I would have thought the previous owner would have noticed it not working and got it done on warranty.

Could you take a picture so we can compare Anthony, Thanks

Forgot to say I plugged the new part into the A150 to see if it would work and it does, so I know the part is good.

Also like you B class, very nice.

Photo links work. Yes, very strange. I'd try to find a wiring shematic for both and compare. Lastly, please add car info and location to your profile info (which will show on left).

Hi,

The B-Class is suppose to have 3 wires. Did you check fuse 41?

The Black & Yellow wire goes directly to the fuse-box (Fuse 41). The Brown wire goes to the nearest ground point and the Brown & Grey wire goes to your SAM.

^ Naamlos - where are you getting wiring shematics info from? WIS or another source? Cuz your name popped up in another thread...you seem to have the info, lol!

Ok guys it's now 00:22am local time, found the fuses and replaced turned it on and same click then fuse blew, I then plugged in the new motor and replaced fuse again and all is working OK.

Well tried to take old motor out, but the wiper arm is stuck on, this came off with a bit of work (Broke it off). Down to the dealer once more in the morning.

ERM getting late now so will continue in the morning. But it's all working just need to fit the new motor in place.

I think it was the water hose that blew off and caused this problem as you can see in the second photo, there is alot of corrosion.

CAN'T SAY THANKYOU ENOUGH GUYS FOR THE HELP

I had a similar problem on my B200T
there was corrosion inside the motor assembly which snapped the brush that makes contact on the rotating disk once the motor is first pulsed by the brown/grey wire

this caused the wiper arm to move 2inch every 5 sec instead of doing a full circle.
I suspect the washer hose might have leaked inside or near the motor which also caused my latch button to stop working because the connector rusted too .. (I will never know since I'm the 2nd owner)

The wiper arm is very tricky to remove without breaking anything. I found the procedure in the WIS which is basically to remove the cap, remove bolt about half way, insert a 10-11mm socket over it and use an extractor on the socket to remove the arm. It's important not to put the extractor directly on the screw because you'll break it (the windshield washer hose goes through it and is fragile)

Yeah, sounds like the motor shorting out and blowing the fuse.

Guys, post pics of the assy. if you can. Would a small bolt or arm/jaw puller or a battery terminal puller work? No pics. so I don't know.

Sounds like a real PITA to take apart and get the arm off......and it's still a PITA just to check and see if corrosion is starting on those contacts too.

......very possible problem for most of us,.. down the road.......

At least we now know that a puller is definitely needed to properly take it apart.
