I think the W140 is better looking than a W220, so i'd just prefer it STOCK... but i'll also admit that whoever did it did a very nice job. So, for those people that like the W220 front end, that would be one hell of a car!

W140 quality with the W220 more modern front end.

During the early part of the decade (2000-2004) I used to see a bunch of ads from conversions similar to this one on Auto Motor und Sport.

The funny thing is that all of them advertised the conversion done front AND rear.

Personally, I think is a mortal sin to mess with the original W140 design, much worse stapling hideous W220 headlights on it. The whole exercise is just pointless...

Too much front overhang, like a W220....maybe it would look better with the projector lamps of later W220s and on a LWB car. I just like how the W140 Hood structure surrounds the grille completely instead of half-assing it like the newer models.

I'm not sure I'd drive it, but I have to say whoever did it did a nice job. It would be a lot of fun to pull it in to a dealer's lot and act stupid -- "Why no, it's always been like that. Is something wrong?" :D

Did we have to get into the 140 vs. 220 in another thread?

As for your comment, its a design difference, not a half-assing of anything. Just like frame-less eye glasses look a bit more modern and sleek than those with a thick frame.

some of you guys will literally try anything to call the 220 or other new mb models a pos, won't you.

Yeah it does look good on the Pics but still think it is out of Balance / Proportions , the W140 has the high back & it would not combine with the lower W220 front section ,how would it sound if u ask the Owner of it "what Merc do u have " , mmh aah , i have a W180 ( inbetween the 2 ) Lol .
Still a good Job tou , something different or -- weird .
Ciao

"WE" Didn't have to argue about anything. Like I have said before it's my opinion, and it's my opinion about the hood structure, but no matter how I worded it I knew that you would chime in. Maybe I should have left out the half-ass part, my apologies.

Hey, we both like Mercedes, we both have opinions, agree to disagree, that's why it's a good thing that cars change with time, for better or worse, this way there are choices.

Its okay, OliverK monitors the W140 section everyday, to make sure there is no anti-W220 comments, if there is, he makes sure to defend W220 with his arms legs and teeth...

He tends to be so much of a W220 extremist, to the point where he once said W220 has better build quality and design than W221.

OliverK, take a chill pill bro, why do you take negative W220 comments personally? did you design the thing??

You have one and you like it so much, good for you, we wish you many years of joyful driving in your 220, but you cannot keep roaming (stalking if I may) the W140 section and other sections, looking for biased opinions to trump them... it seems like your only contribution in non W220 sections is for that purpose...

This is getting interesting. :1poke:

Do you honestly feel the W220 can be mentioned in the same sentence as a W140, is it even worth the star?

:big laugh:

Maybe I can make it clear to you. No one in any other forum goes out of their way to make ignorant comments about other cars, except the 140 forum. The 221 guys seem to be fairly appreciative of the 220 (mostly because they've actually owned one, and know what its about).

If you don't like the 220, why bother even mentioning it? We in the 220 forum don't go, "omg, the 140 is such an ugly outdated pos with options you can find on a saturn", do we? No, because we respect the car for what it is.

In fact, I am not an extremist, and I didn't say the 220 has better build quality than the 221, because it doesn't. I like certain elements of the design better, but that is completely subjective.

I like the 140, and I like the 220. I think 140 owners go overboard on their proclamations about how the quality is so much better. The reasons is that most of them have never owned a 220, and go upon other people's biased statements.

I get it, nothing can trump the almighty 140. Its the greatest car that has ever been built, and nothing built now can ever match its legendary quality. In fact, no other automobiles should ever even be built. They should just produce solely 140s, and burn every other car ever made, aside from possibly the 126, which also has delusional owners.

I read the 140 board because I like 140s. If you guys could just keep your mouths shut with the stupid uneducated 220 comments, I'd have no reason to comment...but you can't.

I sure can actually. The 140 has issues, the 220 has issues. I have been in and driven many of both. If there is a drastic difference in materials or build quality, I haven't seen it. The 220 is far more modern, in my opinion more comfortable, has way more options that I enjoy, and is a better looking car.
