I work at a prestige european used dealership. I had my W140 parked next to a traded W210 E320 today. I immediately hopped in one after the other for comparison. Worlds apart. W210 felt cheap and nasty by comparison. Nothing had any heft like it does in the 140. Armrest, thin doors with no resounding clunk, cheap woodgrain and dash fascia. No comparison at all. The layout is probably a little more ergonomic in the 210 but that is due to age. Comfort and quality are worlds above in the 140.

I got into a W210 today and I wowed... It's a shame isn’t it? It has a way better interior design then the W140.

You know what is interesting? Is that the W220 as far as interior dimensions go is actually bigger inside. What I think it is is a combination of things like the centre console and the sloping roof. When I've driven them in the past I felt more like I was cocooned inside the car more than my W140.

lol thats so wrong, infact the W220 is actually even smaller than the W211 E class lol. And the W140s interior is tons bigger than the W220. I wonder where u got that info from

This guy points out that he hates the W140 interior because the center vents aren't on midline.

I never noticed the lack of symmetry after 3 W140's and 16 years of W140 ownership!

BTW, the W220 S500 was $10K less than the 1999W140 S500. Plastic is cheaper than wood and leather. I guess we owe the cheapness to the Daimler-Chrysler marriage.
