I have one too, and that's normal. You'll get used to it.
W129 280sel euro 1984 transmission
I just got a 1984 280sel euro w129. At 72mph my rpm is at 3500-3600. I guess I only have a 4 speed transmission with my m110 engine. Can anyone confirm this. I get 17-18 mile per gallon average. My manual says there was 4 speed and 5 speed models but I don't think its the original manual. My car starts in 1st gear from a stop.

Dan, I found that the folks with the most expertise on the M110's are on the W123 board. (No offense to anyone here). More of those cars (at least in the States) have this engine than the 126. Not sure where you are - you might want to update your profile.Thanks for the responses. What kind of gas mileage should I expect? I am getting around 17mpg. How can I improve that or is that normal? Also, any suggestions as to what spark plugs, distributor cap, rotor and wires I should use for my m110 engine? And do you guys get like a harmonic humming noise around 65-70 mph? Also, I am interested in changing my odometer back to the classic speedometer. Is it hard to get the dash out. My clock doesn't work either.
