For sale is a Gen 1 short wheel-base AMG body kit with euro front and rear bumpers. The front lip will need some repair and the entire thing will need paint. I had hoped to restore my car to it's former glory but life has taken a turn in another direction. $2,000 OBO + shipping for all of it. I may have a set of Gen 1 AMG Pentas for sale soon as well.

Let' see those pentas when you are ready

Needed: a kick panel retaining clip.

In removing much of the interior of my 500SEC searching for wiring damage, I find this clip bent /damaged.

It's one of the two retaining the right side upholstered kick panel to the car, just before the door opening.

Does anyone have one perhaps a parts car? I think the same for any 126.

The Mercedes-Benz spare part KLAMMER -A1169882678 (A1169882678) is suitable for models 123 (123), 124 (124), S-Class (126), 201 (201)

Hit me up with a PM with your thoughts.

Many thanks.

M.

M, I don't think it's bent. That's how mine looks, too. I think it's to make it easier to glide into its slot.

Thanks Mike,

I agree with you, however, I did not show the bent one.

That one is in ‘not so hot’ shape..

M.

News Update. I just got some from Brian Carlton

Thanks all

I have one of those hens teeth for sale that I always talk about. I have a set of AMG, SEC GEN 1 side skirts for sale. $450 plus shipping. These are in very good shape. I purchased them for my car but my car is a GEN II and these are for a GEN I car. The difference is that these are a little shorter so they fit the GEN I type of side cladding. FYI the GEN I side cladding is about 1" shorter. This is a picture of them being test fitted on my car. I had sanded them down to be ready for paint. I suppose a real enterprising person can add 1" to these but it would be a lot of work. If interested I will take more pictures and provide the AMG part number. Please PM me.

EDIT: SOLD

Got a whole lot of fuses someone might enjoy- most are either brass or copper, but there a few aluminum ones in there

There are 34 8-amp fuses, 55 16-amp fuses, and 51 25-amp fuses. Plus a handy Mercedes-Benz fuse carrier (small crack)

Everything is yours for $20 shipped in the US. Shoot me a DM if interested! Thanks

Parts in Northern California.
Last gasp of the 1983 300SD I had to give up on.

Would $300 for all the parts in the photo be reasonable?
But you must pick them up in Clearlake, Lake County, 100 miles north of San Francisco.

And finally....

I bought two pairs of key-blanks for the car. They cost me $24.76 (plus postage), so maybe $15 with postage included? Specs below.

EDIT: SOLD

Got the official Mercedes-Benz hooks for removing the instrument cluster (140-589-02-33-00). You can always use a coat hanger, but these are way easier and less likely to scratch the cluster when removing

$25 shipped in the US - shoot me a DM if interested :)

If you haven't posted the fuses yet Brian I would take those. No worries if I'm too late though.

1986 420SEL FOR SALE ~140k - $2500

(Description from my FB marketplace listing: https://www.facebook.com/marketplace/item/959314941132352/)
For more images, follow link.

Located in College Park Maryland, 20740
Contact: [email protected]
Asking: $2500

Description
Year: 1986 Make: Mercedes-Benz Model: 420SEL Color: Metallic Grey Interior: Red Leather Engine: 4.2L V8 Transmission: 4-Speed Automatic VIN: WDBCA35D5GA254569

The good: “Tank-like” construction. Well-Built Vehicle. Runs and drives. Eligible for classic vehicle plates and insurance. Electric seats work. Good brakes. New head unit. Clean interior. Well-maintained mechanically. Wheels recently restored. All windows work New rear speakers Newer head unit with AUX Locks work Rides nice Clean title Service records. A/C R134A Converted, Blows cool! Would make a cool daily.

Issues. Antilock Brakes are deactivated. It was still a new technology at the time an the system is over complicated and rudimentary. Needs a new wheel speed sensor to work. Does not effect the driveability of the car. Paint is poor and miscolored. Needs a good paint job. Small amounts of rust in non-structual areas. I have done my best to hide and mitigate rust using inhibitors, fiberglass, and fillers. Odometer does not work. Mileage is likely under 140,000. I have service records to show that it failed in early 2017. By no means a show-quality car, but a great classic to daily drive or enjoy on the weekends. The W126 S-Class was objectively the best car of the 1980s

Hello Benzworlders. Long time no chat. And Hello Mike!! Hope all has been well here.

I am potentially in the market for a new known good transmission for my 1988 560SEC.
Already rebuilt a new one but we can't get the valve body to behave correctly so I may just ditch it.

Thanks if you have known good leads.

Great to hear from you, tjyak50! I'm sure you'll hear plenty of this but I sure think it makes sense to spend more and get a Sun Valley transmission if you can. You should be set for a long time with no 'used' unknowns.

I'l look them up. Not really an issue of money just uncertainty of where to go.
Actually I think all my issues are valve body related.

Hmmm... could do that 722.6 swap too.

ADD: I emailed him about a Valve body, else just buy one for $1750. Not bad actually.

I have all four glass windows in great shape for both the Coupe and Sedan. For sedan, I have the short wheelbase (300SD) and also long wheelbase (420SEL). The coupe windows were from a car which had option 592 HEAT-INSULATING GLASS, ALL-AROUND, HEATED REAR WINDOW PANE, BAND FILTER.

  • front left/right & rear left/right for Sedan SWB (4 total) - $30 each window + shipping
  • front left/right & rear left/right for Sedan LWB (4 total) - $30 each window + shipping
  • front left/right & rear left/right for Coupe (4 total) - $50 each window + shipping
Besides these, I have the triangle glass window pieces that go on the rear on both sides of the sedan - $15 each + shipping (2 available for SWB, 2 available for LWB)

The coupe's rear right (US passenger) chrome that's attached to the window has a dent in it (I can share picture)

Shipping is expensive for glass :( But I have a really good system for packing it and postage would cover the replacement cost of the item if anything broke (not likely the way I pack it). Using U-Haul mirror/picture packers and shipping USPS is roughly $40 for most states in the US. The smaller triangle windows can be shipped much cheaper (maybe $15-$20 for a set of two)

Lots of stuff on my eBay - shoot me a DM if you see anything there that you're interested in. I still have a lot of parts I'm going through

Hey there! Yes- I believe so. I took it from a 500sec, but the part number matches exactly for 560SEL. If you’re interested, shoot me a DM
