I own a 1986 Mercedes 300sdl, guessing the mileage to be between 600,000 --700,00 miles ,(last two true odometer readings were 2009 & 2011,(412603 miles then) it's my daily driver.my tranny's not feeling right.I paid $150.00 for the car 2-1/2 years ago,but I've put over $6,500 into mostly mechanical part replacement and other than that have done my own regular maintenance.I hear many different opinions about how to remedy the slow initial forward surge after depressing the pedal, don't know if it's vacuum line replacement needed, adjustment of Bowden cable,or front seal replacement ( I believe it leaks into the engine block- often adding additional quart of fluid monthly) or if the tranny needs a rebuild.Any input would be welcome.
