Trying to identify the part number for the rubber seal that sits at the bottom of the winshield on the 300SE and is pushed on.Will be the same for the whole W126 series.Tried two main dealers who could not find the part on their list and one supplied me with the under hood seal that seperates the engine bay from the bulk head.Wrong one obviouslyEven bringing the old seal into the main dealer did not help.

Is there a source I can look up to identify parts for the W126 series

I'd wager I could find it for you. You are talking the seal that goes over the shroud around the wipers/HVAC intake etc?

Thats it.Do you know the part number or what to ask for.The main dealer could not find it on the computer. He was not too fussed either. No service business for him.

I've just ordered one for my SEC as it's rotten and the dealer found it no problem.

I think the problem you are having is that the rubber seal is not a seperate part which can be ordered on it's own but comes with the whole plastic trim that goes around the wipers - scuttle tray, I think he called it.

I should be getting it on Tuesday so will post the part number if you haven't already got it by then. Bear in mind though that my car is right hand drive so I'm not positive that it will be the same part.

Ok, got the part and it seems that you can buy just the rubber seal on it's own as that's what they've supplied me with.

Part number on the bag the seal is in is 126 831 23 98. This is for my UK supplied 1989 500SEC. Don't know if the specific part would differ from that on your car though.

Yes.Mine is RHD too.Just based across the water from you in Ireland.I think that seal can be got seperately.Just need to identify it.Mine rotted owing to the fact the car was parked up for two years outdoors.

Any help re. identification would be great. Might be easier if I ordered directly from the UK. Our MD's here in Ireland are half-wits and anyway the parts come from Daimler-Chrysler in the UK.

Give that part number I posted to a Merc dealer and it should come up on his system as being associated with your car.

Nice one Johnathon thanks for that
