Does anybody know a site that has technical information on the 124 body and the like? I found this one on the fourm http://www.mercedes-benz-w124.de.ms/ but I can't read german. Does anybody know of any sites in english?

I don't know of a web site, but I just picked up a book off of eBay "Mercedes Benz E-Class Owners Bible" by Bentley Publishers.
It has specs for all years of W124 Chassis and year by year run down on the changes in the cars. Also maintenance sections and specifications by year and motor. As well as trouble shooting and performance tuning. I highly recommend it.

enter the site, click on the english flag in the left menu, scroll down until you find the w124, there are two links at the right - the first is a brief description of that particular chassis an the second contains a list of various engines, the name, the production period and a link which shows you detailed technical information. There is also a "gearbox and performance" link at the bottom of each technical data page.
