I am looking to change the drivers seat pad on my '93 W124 coupe.

I have taken the seat apart and here is the horsehair pad. Looks ok but it has sagged quite a lot.

This pad has the bar in it which the leather cover clips on to. Mercedes ordered me a new one but when it turned up there is no bar in the new one.

After a few emails to Germany MB tell me this is the only one they do. So that would mean I have to remove the plastic clips from the cover as there would be nothing to hold the cover onto the horsehair pad any more.

I don't really want to do this, the pad they ordered was MA1249102350.

Can anyone shed light on this issue? Have MB ditched the bar-in-pad for a different design over the years?

BTW this is a pre-facelift car with leather, electrics and no seat heating.

I wonder if you can place the wire (as a separate piece) under the pad. Glue a piece of wire under the pad & cut holes in the pad for the clips to pass through??

I guess nobody knows. I was thinking the same thing guess I'll have to wait until I get in there.
