Hi Folks,

The clutch is behaving strangely on my 1992 W124 250D (manual, obviously).

Sometimes when i press the clutch pedal it stays down with the engine still engaged to the transmission. i have to tuck my toe under the edge of the pedal and lift it slightly then it pops up on the pedal return spring with a clunk.

More rarely the clutch pedal descends to it's lowest position without being pressed. The engine is still engaged with the transmission. It returns as above.

No oil is being drawn from the brake reservoir - this charges the clutch master cylinder and servo.

Does anyone here have any ideas where the fault may lie ?

Leaky master cylinder/servo/hydraulic hose ? Leaky vacuum system ?

Any ideas are welcome !

Cheers,

Neil xx.

Leaky master or slave. No real way to tell other than pulling the hard line in between and capping the mast off with a bolt. If pedal goes down its the master, otherwise its the slave. Could just need bleeding but unlikely if its been ok for X number of miles...

Hey cheers winmutt,

Will have a look in the morning.

Bleeding shouldn't be a problem also. Just worried it's be the clutch plates !

Cheers,

:)
