I was looking through the polls for a poll of the different models. I want to see who drives what in the world of W123's. I am pretty sure I know which models are most popular and which ones are rare. Let's see where this goes!

Had I been buying one of these new back in the day, I'd have purchased a 300CD. It's a fine looking automobile and with all the windows down it looks better yet. But coming onto the scene late, my favorite is the 82 to 85 (non California) 300D turbo. 1982 is the first year without the terrible Chrysler climate control and 1985 was the last year for the W123s. So there is a 3 year golden window in my opinion. My philosophy with older vehicles as a driver and not a collector is to own one that is neither rare nor unique. I want to be able to readily find new and used parts to keep them going many years into the future.

how dare you lump all the wagons into one
Ducatipaso: I apologize for slighting anyone. I wanted to have a single model per choice, but I was limited to 10 selections for the poll. Believe me when I say, the wagons are a proud and respectable body style for Mercedes and especially in the W123 category, so once again please accept my apologies. I considered dropping off some of the more rare models, like the 200 and 200T, but with my luck someone out there owns one and is very proud of it. It was a compromise.

According to my research it is a 240D turbo. OM616 produced from 1978-1986.
Your source is incorrect. MB never produced such a model.

In that case, I have no idea. When I was looking for a comprehensive list of W123 models, I used the Mercedes-Benz Technical Companion. They list a 240DT OM616 produced from 1978-1986. I searched various sites and found a 240TD which is a wagon and a 240D with a turbo charger. I only researched it to find an answer to your original question (What is a 240DT?). Since Star magazine published the Technical Companion, I assumed they knew what they were talking about. If you are telling me there is no such thing as a 240DT, then I guess the Mercedes-Benz Technical Companion is wrong.

Yes, they are wrong. Show me a trunklid with "240DT" on it. There is however a 240TD, Euro only, and "TD" refers to a diesel wagon, not "turbo diesel" in case you're confused. Also, the 240D Turbo you linked is an aftermarket job. MB never turboed the OM616.
