Dear Guys,

Its been a long time since i posted.
I recently got myself a set of Pentas by ATS.
The digits are:
>6.5 X 16J H2
>112 E35
Anyone can let me know if these will fit my 123 without using spacers?
If yes, what size tires should i run on?

Thanks in advance.

Sounds like they will fit. The CLK wheels I tried on were 16x7 ET37. Yours is slightly less with ET35 but 16x6.5.

Check to make sure if you need new (shorter) lug bolts.

Congrats!

My worries are that the rims or tires will hit the tie-rods.
123's tie rods are so close even while using the standard bundt rims.
Hope more comments/advice comes in.
Hate the idea of using spacers.. Doesnt feel safe.. Plus scared of vibration at high speeds and other issues like uneven tire ware..

The CLK wheels I used barely touched the tie rods, in fact I had to switch to stick on weights (balancers) instead of the clip on ones since those balancers are the ones hitting the tie rods, but the rim does not.

According to the AMG Tech Manual, the w123s came with 16x8 wheels with an offset of 11; so would that mean the offset would be much different? I'd think so, but I don't know to what degree.

I am running 205 55 r16's on my pentas which turns out to be almost the same size rolling diameter than the stock 195's. Congrats on the ATS'. I had to run 15mm spacers do to the wrong offset. But my AMG's are also 16 x 7.5.

I'm not sure, I've never checked them out but I'm sure my 15x7 bundts have ET25mm stamped on them. So I'm guessing somewhere in between? I think some 15x7 bundts had ET23 which made the wheels look wider.

When I gave my set of spare bundts to Turbo240, I checked that they all matched and saw the offset was indeed ET30 for the 14x6.

Hmm..
Karugs, i always thought that the bigger the ET, the wider the tires look.
So, back to same question.. Will mine fit?
If standard bundts were ET30, then i guess it wud fit..
Thought max ET for W123's were ET25..

Mine is ET 35, 16" X 6.5.. Will ET 35 make the tires look more out of the fenders?

You've got wrong Pentas... Designed for W124 with bigger ET than W123. I've got both sets. The one you've got fits W124 perfectly without spacers, for W123 ET must be 11.

Very good explanation about everything else about wheels and rims: Car Bibles : The Wheel and Tyre Bible Page 1 of 2

Smaller ET makes wheels look wider... AMG Widebody rims has negative ET!

It's not uncommon to use spacers.... question is are these spacers specifically designed for these rims and would it be worth the risk to use "other spacers"?

From my knowledge, there are risks of wheel vibration on front wheels with spacers. ET35 (yours) vs. ET11 (ideal).... thicker spacers >> the more risk there is.

IMHO, look for a set of 8x16 Pentas with ET11 offset. These are "plug and play" for W123/R107s.

It doesnt really matter if we approve or disapprove of you putting the wheels on. They are your wheels do what you want with them. Dont ask for permission. Instead of asking us if they will fit. Take off your front wheel and put a Penta on. If it is going to have any clearance issues it will be at the outer tie rod. Like I said, I have 15mm hub centric spacers on my car and I have no problems what so ever with any kind of vibration.

Thnx guys..
Turbo, i'll do that. Try it on my car.. Once the car is back. Its goin thru restoration. Almost 8 months down now.. Did some studies on spacers. I think it'll be fine if spacers are precision made and engineered with a center cone.

Our benz weight is supported by the center cone/hub and not the 5 lugs.
I'm just not sure how to calculate and what will be the measurement of the spacers.

Read the link by Mizx and got to know alot. Speedo reading might run and lotsa other things if calculation is wrong.

Any one has fitted rims similar to these offset and designed spacers for it? Care to help and share?

Also, will using spacers at the rear so that the tires come out a little to give that solid look have negative affects on a car?
