open bonnet

on the back of the lamp units (no need to remove cover plates) is a large connector (see picture)

undo connector - be careful I've had them fall apart if roughly handled.

there are 6 connections in each half (its easier if you remove the lamp from the vehicle ... 3 screws hold it in and can be accessed by removing front grill / cover strip)

thoroughly clean ALL connections (6 in each lamp connector and 3 on cable connector).... use wet and dry (dry not wet) sandpaper or preferably grit blaster if available.

reassemble.

its a common problem because the connectors are not plated to stop corrosion.... its almost always these connectors that are the problem... do BOTH sides.

vito headlights

Hi malcom thanks for the reply i had a go at it earlier i think maybey it goes a bit further. The main beem flash works ok but not main beem on switch. I had all the fuse board out today and with a tester on the side lights fuse when you switch side lights on you get power to the tester. But when you switch to dipped beem with tester on dipped beem fuse there is no power at tester if i link the sidelights fuse to dipped beem everything works fine ie dipped beem main beem but only with swithing on side lights so i am wondering if it may be the switch jus wonderd what your thoughts are on this thanks paul
