Hi, I need to replace the left front wheel bearing on my 639 Vito 115 2005 model. I have had no luck in obtaining one in South Africa. The agents want to sell the complete unit for R10000. Could anyone help me with any information on where I could get it from.

talk to ciceley commercials in blackburn uk... always found them helpful... you can contact through ebay uk where they run a parts shop.

bad news is it does look like the bearing is part of the steering knuckle assembly and not available separately

its a lousy modern trend that is getting more common... the whole knuckle is cast as a single unit with the bearing races as part of the casting... it simplifies factory and repair assembly but unfortunately it means the replacement of a much bigger piece and higher parts cost... but it should also have much lower labour costs.

I wish you luck

Hi Malcolm, thanks a million for the info. I have looked on ebay but it only comes up with micks garage and they do not deliver to south africa. If you have any contact details that would be much appreciated. I spoke to the international dealer in aftermarket parts, schaeffler, they said i could expect delivery from them at the end of january. These guys do not deal with the public so I have to wait for one of their agencies for pricing.
Cheers

obviously I cannot promise success but talking to a supplier often helps and I have always found cicely very helpful... good luck

ebay address = ebay shops on ebay.co.uk
name= ciceley-mercedes-benz
email given = [email protected]

they will have another email e.g. [email protected] (only a guess but likely)

ask about the part, then ask about supply....... remember you need the VIN number to order parts as there are a number of variations.

ciceley are a trade dealer but are normally happy to sell to anybody and are usually cheaper than most dealers.

parts are delivered to them within a couple of days (normally most bits are in stock as the group is pretty big) so if you can come to a deal with them it will only be the time for delivery to you...

good luck
