Hey guys, I just picked up a 190 to "preserve" my 300CE for the winter :)

The AC works!!! Its Ice Cold! I gotta dig in and see whats up with that. The AC working that well is fishy :p

Also the strut mounts squeak and they turn sometimes when the wheel is turned

Check out my thread on the 190 forum for pictures.

Now i gotta do some research on how to properly store the 300 for winter :)

If it ain't broke why futz with it??? Just leave well enough alone.

The squeaking noise is probably your clue that the suspension & steering are due for overhaul. Given the age and mileage, replace every steering & suspension component. It will then feel like a new car again. Just be sure to use genuine MB or reputable OE components such as Lemfoerder, Bilstein, Sachs/Boge, etc, etc, ettc.

I looked at your thread in the W201 forums. The car looks good, and will make a great winter car, but do yourself a favor and get that Type 134 out of the gearbox. Type 134 is not specified for the 722.4xx, in fact, no synthetic transmission fluid is. Go buy a good quality conventional Dexron III, and change the fluid and filter. That may take care of your slipping problem, as these transmissions were not made for synthetic oil. If that does not do it, it may be the K1 kit that needs replaced. Simple to do with the pan off. Search these forums for info.

Yeah i know the 134 isnt good for the gearbox but apparently the P.O told me the car have been "slipping" into third for a really long time and with 130k miles its too early to have anything wrong in the gearbox no?

Reverse and other gears engages really fast and everything so i'm thinking its a vaccum issue or a shift kit should fix it.

Slipping into third tells me that most likely a K1 kit would fix the problem, and if you are dropping the pan to do that, might as well changed the filter, drain the TQ and replace the fluid with the correct stuff.
