Yes I think there is something wrong, the car is very weak when the AC is working, and also it tends to produce some high sound from the engine! Is that normal or there should be some adjustment to the car?

My vehicle is a 1983 200 (W123) carburetor.

Make sure the compressor is not locking up, and check the tension of the belt.
Thanks for the input man, but can you elaborate more on the belt tension thing??? I have never thought that the belt could cause such a problem, true my belts are very hard and I was advised to replace them, but don't really felt hasty about it....

So can you tell me how the tension of the belt could affect the performance of the car? Thanks a lot for the info.

Thanks Benzoid for the information, but sure the AC system is fine I got the gas refilled and lubricated. I just have a problem with the belt I think, It is so hard! I feel it is very old, but just is it true that it can be the reason for a bad performance? And how?
