Very short range with keyless entry remote on 2000 CLK430

I've tried replacing the batteries inside my key fob but my range is still very short compared with the keyless entry system of Lexus and Infiniti.<br> <br> Has anyone else noticed this? Sometimes it works great, but as a general rule, I need to be within 10 feet of the car to get it to respond to the remote.<br> <br> With other cars such as Lexus, you can be clear across the parking lot and it will pick up the signal.<br> <br> I've made no modifications to the car that would prevent the signal from reaching the car. Same problem with my '01 CLK430
I experience the same problem with my CLK430 (2001), I'm able to use keyless on my C320 (2002) clear across the parking lot..
