I recently removed and replaced a motor in my 82 300d-t w/ a 82 300sd after changing out the few items that were different. Now the transmission is flaring sometimes going into 3rd but it was not doing this before with the stock motor. So would this probably lead to changing out the VCV from the other motor to the motor currently in car? thanks.

Possible, or the "new" VCV isn't adjusted properly. Could also be a leak in the EGR system if that is still there.

Do some measurements with a vacuum gauge first.
