I'm sure I have a valve gasket leak. There is oil on top of the plug like around it, not a lot, but it is affecting the performance. I don't see where the oil is coming from though..... How much would it cost for me to get this replaced? Thanks

This is not from your valve cover it is from your spark plug seals. They round and surround your spark plugs. The old ones may be metal or rubber. It's not a hard job to do yourself, just be careful.

Is there a write up on the replacement? My mechanic is quoting me 500 to replace valve cover gasket, spark plugs, change oil, o rings, clean throttle body, power steering flush, brake fluid flush, rotate tires, top up on other fluids, and check brakes. Is that a good deal? I know with the parts it'll come out to be about 100 dollars for me to do it, but I'm not mechanically inclined, so I don't wanna screw anything up.

Been there, done that.
Oil is leaking from old bad o-rings, which comes with valve cover gasket kit.

I think that is the kit for 96-98 M119s - the earlier one has a different rubber seal from the spark plug holes. Just don't overtighten the bolts on the valve cover or you will strip the threads in the head. Just 8Nm is all it needs.
