only new on here so learning can anyone provide a supplier of piston ring seal[teflon i think ]and o ring, etc. for piston type vacuum pump on a 617 3 litre 5 cyl diesel. local suppliers can only supply a kit and the price is a bit high, hope someone can help .thanks,kerry460

Not sure of your definition of "local" or "high", but one of the sponsors of this forum, PerformanceProducts.com has the kit for $62. Are you sure it's the piston and not just the check valve? The check valve is less money than that.

the repair kit is so common that many "no-name" suppliers offer them for very little money. All 1980's MB Diesel have the same pump.

sorry local is tasmania australia .the pump on 617 engines in australia is rubber diaprhagm ,on the G is piston with teflon seal ring and o-ring for tension .sorry for any confusion .only new on the internet and very new on here .kerry

The rubber diaphragm vacuum pumps were used on MB Diesel engines until May 1980 - all MB Diesels since June 1980 (until 1989 for the G) have the piston vacuum pump.
So, plenty of engines have it and parts should be easy to get.

thanks for your help. the info i had been given on vacuum pump was obviously wrong. the local price wasnt. $350 to $400 AUS.thanks kerry460
