Just acquired a 79 300 TD. Power locks never worked. Car dieseled for a minute before finally dying then evolved so it wouldn't stop at all when I removed the key. I plugged one of the vaccum lines and everything's back to normal. Then after a month, it's back to not shutting off at all...is there a good place to start troubleshooting the vaccum system/a likely solution?? THANK YOU, Jared

I have found in my TD that you start with the vacuum pump lines,all of them,change ALL the rubber connectors,the lines themselves will OK.Check the switch it'self,there are lines running to it and if the rubber connectors are perished there,they will either fall off or leak so you can't stop the engine.By changing any comnnectors you find,the auto trans will shift better and any little slippage will disapear.[:D]the doors will lock and UNlock properly,as long as the door actuators are all good.[:)]

Hi Ron/Jared,

I suspect I may have a slight vacuum leak somewhere that is effecting my idle and fuel mixture. Is there an easy way to check it without replacing all the rubber connectors in all the tight spots like under the dash, etc? All the tubing I can see in the engine comp looks like it is new or at least in good shape. I can probably come across a vacuum gauge... What should the values show?
