My '95 E320 wagon is getting close to hitting the 150K mark and I'm planning on overhauling the steering & suspension components as they are still original and worn out along with the infamous head gasket job. The nitrogen spheres were already changed out about 3 years ago along with a new transmission.

I have come across a wrecked 2000 MY R129 SL600 with low, low miles (29K). I know the owner and the car spun out during the recent downpours causing the rear end to slide into a concrete streetlight. The trunk and roof are hammered beyond repair, but everything else is still good. I drove it and appears to be OK, other than the fatal frame damage. He is selling it as-is for almost next to nothing and has already bought another R129.

So, since the R129 chassis is heavily borrowed from the W124, what are the chances of transferring the drivetrain from the SL to my wagon???? At first sight, it looks like the M120 motor is just plain too big to fit in the W124 engine bay but maybe I'm wrong.

I realize this would be a huge project, but at the same time I think it would create a one-of-a kind type vehicle. Also, both vehicles have ASR if that makes a difference.

If nothing else, I'll get at least the brakes and put those on my diesel perhaps.

it should work fine but if the SL was a pre 95 it would have been much easier since the 2000 uses a electronic Trans, so your tranny will be useless with some very tight fit it should all come along, i have seen pictures of W124's sedans in Europe with a V12's so it's def doable

Ed:I`m not saying that Brabus did not make a V12 124 as they did,but the car on that picture is 7.2 VATH.
Is for same by the way,more pictures here VÄTH (W124) V12 - 7.2L - Bilgalleri.dk - Danmarks største bilgalleri
PS:Thank you again for the email
I stand corrected..I had the pic tagged wrong..

I'm looking for the Brabus engine bay pix as if I recall they built possibly four V12 W124's
I believe Brabus used the 500E/E500 chassis for their builds.
