Hello to all ,

I am in the process of replacing the engine on my 1994 sl 600, and I need to know if I MUST replace the it with a '94 or can I go newer ?

Second
If I am able to replace it with a newer engine,How much newer can I go between a '95 and '02 ?

Any and all information will be helpful and very much appreciated.

1. Any 94' or newer will do.

2. A new SL500 would cost you $40,000 USD (dealer quote). Good luck to you with the SL600 engine! [:(]. Having said that, used ones would go as low as $10K but then again, they are "used" and you would have no idea about its history.

can you not just have a mechine shop bore the block. I dont know where you at but the shop here in town who build my race motors and such chages $10 a hole. $120 to do your block. then you need new pistion and put it back together.. granted you need all the seals,and rings and what not...

OR you could probably have the mechine shop sleeve those 4 and put the stock pistons back in.
