I have a 95 c220. I need to tighten the belt untill I have the time to pull it into the garage to replace the belt and other things. From what I found on the search it looks like it is just turning the torx bolt ( clock wise) that is comming out of the Tensioning pulley. I see that there is a Tensioning collar nut on the pulley. Does this or anything else need to be loosened before I adjust the tention on the belt? I don't want to strip/break anything and turn something simple into a major thing.

NO, do not turn that clockwise. From what you mentioned it sounds like your tensioner is sticking, there is a spring inside the tensioner assembly that will freeze up after years of use. You may need a new tensioner unit. B

Yeah, not exactly sure what you're talking about JHEaston... I don't believe these are v-belts anymore. The serpentine belts have self adjusting tensioners. Seen a lot of these older units with broken springs. I would guess that you need a new tensioner. Best to replace with a new belt too.
