I'm thinking about using some rims from a 2006 S500 AMG for my 2002 E55 AMG.

The front rims match up at 8.5 x 18 and the rears are 9.5 x 18 both cars use the same size tire 245 front and 275 in rear.

It's the offset that is different. On all my wheels they are 30-40mm and on the S500 they're front=44mm and rear = 46 mm.

What i wanna know since I know so little about tires and rims and someone local said I could get a hubcentric 10 mm spacer for alll for wheels and use longer bolts and be just fine. Is this true? If so, any recommendations where to buy a set of spaceers and botls as a set. Any info on where to to buy top quality spacers etc is apreciated.

Is this good idea or no?

Thank you,

Marc

Your OEM E55 AMG rims are 31mm front, and 35mm rear. Assuming the S500 rim design clear your calipers, custom hub-centric spacers and long bolts may fit. Nonetheless, the risk of wheel vibration is extremely high. I'd say nay.

My rims are Brabus VI replicas. I bought them on Ebay. There are plenty of cheap aftermarket rims on Ebay. However, finding rims to fit our E55's is no easy task. The deal with spacers is that our E55's have an unusual mounting hub. There is actually a small step at the top of the mounting hub. One would have to replicate that step on to a custom spacer to achieve a perfect fit. Nonetheless, step or not, spacers are just not a good idea. Good luck.
