There is a connection in the glove compartment but it is not a usb connection

Not standard, but you can buy an adapter that will add a USB connection to the cables in the glove compartment. MY owners manual mentions it as a way to play music directly from a flash/thumb drive. Not sure if it will charge a cell phone.

You can get an adapter <$5 that plugs into cig lighter or one of the 12V outlets (glove box or center console?).
